A Working Mayor with Experienced Leadership.

About Billy

For fifty-five years I have been a resident of Muscle Shoals. I graduated from Muscle Shoals High School (Go Trojans!) in 1975. I went on to attend the University of North Alabama, graduating with a Bachelor of Science degree. I also earned a Masters degree and Administration degree.

I’ve proudly been an educator throughout my career. I have served as a classroom teacher, coach Assistant Principal, Principal, School Superintendent of Colbert County for ten years, from 2002 – 2012, and then interim Superintendent for two more years. While serving in these positions I also served as a  Muscle Shoals City Council member from 1996 – 2000.

I was married to Muscle Shoals native Sherry Cox Hudson. Sherry passed in 2022 after a lengthy battle with Parkinson’s Disease. Like myself, Sherry was a Muscle Shoals High School and UNA Graduate. And like me, Sherry was a teacher for 25 years. I have two sons, Nicholas and Jacob, and two grandchildren, Mackenna and Colin.

I come from a family of educators. My father Billy Hudson Sr. was Athletic Director, Head football Coach, and teacher at Muscle Shoals High School. My mother, Tena, also taught English at Muscle Shoals High School.

In addition to my teaching and administration duties, along the way I also served as a  high school football, basketball, and baseball official and a college basketball official.

Muscle Shoals is in my blood. As Mayor of Muscle Shoals, Alabama, you will get a working mayor, one with experienced leadership, and Results not Promises. Muscle Shoals deserves no less.
